He's learned how to shake his head to indicate when he doesn't want something, mostly during meal time. I will put a spoon full of mushy carrots near his mouth and he'll shake his head vigorously, "NO." Then, I'll wait a second and offer mushy banana. Mouth opens. Access granted.
Benjamin is fascinated with our cats, Ty and George. He tries to call them by saying "Dat! Dat! Dat!" in their direction. In response, George, the orange one, runs to places of safety where he knows Benjamin can't reach while Ty, the really big tabby, will lay down right in front of Benjamin. He seems to think the torture of having his soft fur pulled and slobbered over is worth the attention. Poor cat.
Benjamin started walking over a month ago. He went from cruising, to pushing furniture around, to taking steps on his own in a matter of weeks. He used to use the walls and furniture to stabilize himself every so often. He doesn't need to do that at all anymore. He walks pretty much everywhere now, which is amazing to me. There's this little person following me around the house now - this miniature version of Matt with lighter, curlier hair.
Benjamin dances. He either shakes his head with a huge smile on his face (different from the "NO" shake described above) as he's holding on to something like a chair or ottoman, or he turns in circles, always counter clockwise. That last move is new.
Matt says that sometimes, in the morning, he can hear Benjamin singing to himself. How cute is that? :)
